Franklin Printing Celebrates 75 Years in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local family owned printing company is celebrating 75 years in the community.

Franklin Printing commemorated the occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce.

Everett Jackson, the President of Franklin Printing, said they’ve seen many things change over the years and credits his father for helping to bring more advancements in the printing world to Zanesville.

“I remember one time, we got a phone call from Chicago and our dad had gone to a big printing convention, and he called up and says. ‘What do we need to improve things?,” Everett said. “I said, ‘Well I think we’re in good shape and we don’t need anything.’ He says, ‘well, I just bought a new press, a four color printing press’, he says, ‘I think that’ll help things.’ He was always for the new technology, it was a new type-setting machine, a new plate maker, a new folding machine, he was always trying to be on the cutting edge. In fact, if they didn’t make it, he would make the machine.”

While the world of printing has changed drastically, Eldon Jackson, the Vice President, said one thing has stayed the same and that’s family.

He said his father wanted to create something that was entirely his own and now it’s time to pass the torch to the next generation.

“Our parents probably had no idea what they were starting but dad wanted to do something on his own,” Eldon said. “So, he got it started, slowly, and been building all these years. He put all three of us boys through school, so now we got our children in here.”

Franklin Printing is located at 984 Beverly Ave and hopes to be a fixture in the community for many more years to come.
