Frazeysburg Fire Feels Relief
The Frazeysburg Volunteer Fire Department will soon start paying some of it’s staff members.
According to Chief David Smith the Volunteer Fire Department will add paid staffing during daylight hours to ease the pressure when volunteer fire fighters are not available.
The department encountered severe budget issues after a clerical error by the Village last year. The station who relies solely on tax payer’s dollars lost 50% of their operating budget resulting in less equipment, less training and the inability to hire the additional staff needed. But after February’s special election, a levy was passed generating around $73,000 for the department.
Paid firefighters and paramedics will begin Monday.
