Free Community Shred & Electronics Recycling Event

21 8 13 Community Shred Day

DOWNTOWN ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Community Bank in downtown Zanesville is hosting a free electronics recycling and paper shredding event. The event will be located in their rear parking lot on North 4th Street adjacent to the back entrance of Secrest Auditorium from 9AM to noon Saturday.

Electronics you can recycle include: computers, laptops, servers, routers, modems, telephones, cellphones, stereos, VCRs, remotes, all wires and cords, TVs, cable and satellite boxes, and DVRS. They ask that if you bring electronics, you wipe them of all information.

“It’s kind of a one-stop-shop. You pull in if you have electronics, drop them off in that section, pull on up to the paper section. We unload the car for you, you don’t even need to get out of your car, and then you’re on your way,” Eric Holsky, president and CEO of The Community Bank stated.

They ask that if you bring paper to be shredded, you try and limit it to 5 standard office paper boxes, but they understand that after lockdowns people may have a lot more paper waste than typical years.

“I think last year with the pandemic and being at home, a lot of people probably cleaned out their homes, cleaned out their offices, have a lot of old documents, things like that. We all know about identity theft and fraud right now, and it’s a major issue. And so this is a safe way to take these documents that might have personal identification information on them that could be used by someone to steal your identity,” Holsky said.

The Community Bank is excited to host this annual event after forgoing it last year. If you find paper you’d like to shred after the event takes place, they recommend you store it somewhere safe in your home until the next free community shred event next April.
