From St. Catty’s Day to Pump for Pups and Paws, Shelter Launches New Fundraisers
ZANESVILLE, OH –The Animal Shelter Society is expressing its gratitude to the community for making this year’s Yappy Hour a huge success.
The annual fundraiser, now in its ninth year, helps support the shelter’s mission of caring for and rehoming animals. Organizers say this year’s event exceeded expectations, selling out sponsorships and bringing in strong community support.
“Last Thursday was a phenomenal thing,” Animal Shelter Society Executive Director April Gibson said. “We tapped out on our sponsorships. It was a great year, great auction items, the supporters, the chefs—wow, the food was phenomenal. So, we’re already ready for the 10th annual. It’s going to be March 5th, 2026.”
Now that Yappy Hour has wrapped up, the shelter is shifting focus to its next big event—St. Catty’s Day. This month-long adoption event offers discounted rates to help cats find loving homes. The shelter is also partnering with AJ’s Fuel and Food Mart for Pump for Pups and Paws, where every gallon of gas sold will contribute directly to supporting shelter animals.
“We’re going to do a St. Catty’s Day Month—that’s where cats can be adopted here, any age, here or at our local chosen pet store, We Love Pets. You’re going to have a $14 adoption fee and $5 for your microchip.”
Gibson continued, “We’re doing a Pump for Paws and Pups—for every 3 cents on the gallon sold at AJ’s Shell and his Fuel and Food Mart drive-thru for the month of March, he donates that back to the animal shelter. So, you know, he’s a businessman, a local businessman, still trying to make his money to support his family, but he’s also thinking about the animal shelter, and we’re very thankful for that.”
The St. Catty’s Day adoption special offers a $14 adoption fee, which includes spay or neuter surgery, flea and tick treatment, deworming, vaccines, nail trims, and more. For an additional $5, adopters can also have their new pet microchipped. In addition to finding loving homes for cats, the shelter is working to raise over $750 to purchase new cat towers and other essential items to improve the comfort and well-being of the animals in their care.
