Fundraiser for Genesis Volunteers

Genesis volunteers pledged $1 million to the hospital over the course of 10 years.

A new, re-vamped gift shop at Genesis with a Starbucks cafe, an outdoor courtyard, a baby grand piano and free wifi will have its grand opening celebration Thursday. This is just one of the upgrades Genesis is seeing make way with the pledged money from the volunteers.

“All of our volunteers staff it and all of the proceeds go to the genesis volunteers and they use that to support various projects Most recently the volunteers made a $1 million pledge on our campaign to build the new hospital and so the proceeds from their various fundraisers as well as the gift shop go to support that effort” said executive director at Genesis Health Care Foundation, Paul McClelland.

This years fundraiser for the pledge will include artist Elva Hurst giving two demonstrations of her work along with a buffet dinner at Bryan’s Place and two lucky winners will take home a completed piece of artwork. This fun filled evening will take place Thursday, October 22nd at 4 p.m at Bryan’s Place. We spoke with a Genesis volunteer of 43 years:

“The volunteers pledged a million dollars so we over ten years, the money century bank has graciously underwritten, all the money raised will go to our pledge” Betty McDonald told us.

Tickets for the event will be just $15 per presentation and $20 for dinner. You can pick yours up at the Genesis gift shop or at Bryan’s Place restaurant.
