Fundraising ‘fur’ Pets

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum County regularly promotes the well-being of pets through the generosity and partnership of multiple businesses and organizations.

Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio Owner Sharon Shaner highlighted the details ‘fur’ a fundraiser called ‘Smooches for Pooches.’

“During the month of July, we’re doing our annual partnership with the Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center that we like to call ‘Smooches for Pooches,’” Shaner said. “This is our 5th year, so we’re asking the community to come in and drop off donations to the adoption center. And while you’re here we have some fun things going on. We have a ‘Most Kissable Lips Contest’ and we’re asking if you want to bring your dog in, we would love to take photos of you and your dog here at Merle Norman. We have a cute little makeup bag that can show your support for your dog with a minimum purchase.”

Muskingum County Deputy Dog Warden Erin Fuller explained how ‘Smooches for Pooches’ benefits the K-9 Adoption Center and the many needs the agency faces.

“A lot of times our fundraisers go to the Griff Fund, which is a fund that pays for any medical needs for the dogs that are outside the ordinary, outside the spay and neuter. So, amputations, surgeries, anything that… we just had a dog that had a couple prolapses. Paid for that. Anything outside of the ordinary,” Fuller said.

Merle Norman Cosmetics is located on Brandywine Boulevard and will be holding their fundraiser until the end of July. To learn more about how you can participate, you can find the Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio of Zanesville and the Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center online.
