Gas Leak Shuts Down Main Road in Newark
West Main Street in Newark is re-opened after a gas leak earlier this afternoon.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. near Licking Memorial Hospital. The Newark Fire Department says a company was digging in the area and cut a gas line.
It was determined no evacuations were needed at the hospital but a portion of West Main Street was closed for about a half hour.
The Newark Fire Department says the gas company, Energy Co-Op, responded and has deemed the area safe.
