Genesis Cancer Care Center To Open Monday

The Genesis Cancer Care Center will officially open its doors to patients starting Monday.

The facility will be the first in Zanesville, and up until now, patients being treated for cancer have had to travel out of town for their treatment. Medical Director of Cancer Services, Dr. Scott Wegner, says having a cancer facility in Zanesville is very important, and can help reduce stress during this difficult time.

“I think it’s very important, cancer is an extremely stressful time and everyone wants the best care for their loved ones or themselves, and we feel very confident that we can deliver that here.”

The new state-of-the-art facility was specifically designed to meet the patients needs. Every decision made was to improve the patient experience.

“It’s been a very exciting process for us,” stated Wegner. “You know, we started thinking about four and a half years ago, thinking about what the ideal patient experience would be. And we spend every second working towards that end and this is the end product of that. ”

Friday, staff began moving into the building, and construction is being completed. Doctors will begin seeing patients on monday.
