Genesis Hospital Receives Hospital Safety Grade For 2019 Spring Season

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Genesis Hospital just received their hospital safety grade for the Spring season.
The Hospital Safety Grade lead by the Leapfrog program, scores hospitals on how safe they keep patients from injuries, accidents, infections, and errors. Genesis Hospital received a letter grade of A for the second time in a row.
“We feel that’s a validation of all the efforts that we put here at Genesis to provide a safe environment for our patients,” said Genesis Chief Medical Affairs Officer, Dr. Dan Scheerer.
Scheerer also said Genesis aimed to achieve the excellent safety grade by partaking in a high reliability organization. An organization that has succeeded in avoiding catastrophes despite a high level of risk.
“We have started an HRO patient safety and quality improvement council which oversees all safety efforts in the hospital. And that has grown over the past year, and it’s very powerful. We have inside into processes and things we’ve never had before,” he said.
Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are assigned to more than 2,000 general hospitals across the country.
