George Edwin Gibbs (August 6, 1926 – August 6, 2010)

George Edwin Gibbs 84 of Zanesville passed away on Friday August 6, 2010 at his residence. George was born in Byesville on August 6, 1926 to the late Edwin Dennis and Happie Irene Spear Gibbs. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion, VFW and the DAV. George served our country and protected our freedom while serving in the Army during WWII. He worked and retired from Armco Steel after 37 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Mellvina Ervin Gibbs of the home, children; Happie Regina Bryan of Zanesville, Sheldon David (Cathy) Gibbs of Roseville, and Georgia (Blane) Logan of Zanesville. Six grandchildren; Donavan and Jason Glass, Matthew and Daniel Gibbs, Blain Logan and Sherri Carson, three great grandchildren; Sara and Maddox Gibbs and Matthew Gibbs Jr.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by; five brothers Raymond, Hubert, Jack, Doran and Sheldon and two sisters Theda Shuman and Vonda Eternicka.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM Monday August 9, 2010 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 W. MILITARY ROAD ZANE SVILLE, OHIO.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00PM Tuesday August 10, 2010 in the Snouffer Funeral Home Chapel Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
