Gertrude Lavina Orndorff Boyer (January 28, 1924 – September 1, 2010)

Gertrude Lavina Bagent Orndorff Boyer, 86, of Zanesville passed away on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. She was born January 28, 1924, in Meigs County, Ohio to the late Gladys Young and Willard Bagent. Gertrude and her husband Leonard operated the family farm which has been in the family for over 100 years; they also Co-owned the L. F. Orndorff and Son Garage on Lee Street. She was a lifetime member of Sonora United Methodist Church and former Youth Group leader there. She was a wonderful mother, a deeply devoted Grandmother and Great-grandmother who raised her brothers and sisters and will be missed by all of her family and friends.
Gertrude is survived by her son, Larry (Becky) Orndorff of Zanesville, granddaughters: Heidi Orndorff of Zanesville and Amy (Joshua) Hanning of Philo; great-grandchildren: Ashley Orndorff of Zanesville and Dakota and Ryan Hanning of Philo; a brother, Ralph Bagent of Zanesville and a niece, Sue (Randy) Vandenbark of Springfield.
In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded by her husbands: Leonard Orndorff in 1975 and John Boyer in 1996; brothers: Foye Bagent, Robert Bagent, Clarence Bagent, George Bagent and Eugene Bagent; a sister, Bertha Spinks; and a grandson, Lee Orndorff.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2010 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. MILITARY RD., ZANESVILLE, OH. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept., 7 in the Snouffer Chapel officiated by Joe Robinson and Rev. Joe DiVincenzo. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery near Sonora.
