Get Your Dog License

If you’re a pet owner who has yet to purchase your dog license you may be in luck, the Muskingum County Auditors Office has extended the final date you can purchase that license with out penalty.

Dog licenses were supposed to be on sale from December 1st to January 31st. However, since the 31st is a Saturday the auditors office has extended that date to February 2nd. This means you can purchase your dog license up to February 2nd without penalty.

“There are various prices, we had a new law that went into effect last year. The one year dog license is $10.00, three year is $30.00, and then you have your permanent dog license which is $100.00, and then the kennel license is $50.00,” said Muskingum County Auditor, Debra Nye.

It is required by state law if you are a dog owner to purchase that license. If you wait until after February 2nd according to the state statute your penalty is the same amount as the cost of an actual dog license.

“So after February 2nd it’ll be $20.00, for three year it’ll be $60.00 and lifetime $200.00 so, you don’t want to miss that timeframe,” stated Nye.

There are 18 various places around Muskingum County where you can purchase your dog license. You can also stop by the auditors offices Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Or you can buy it from home by heading to www.MuskingumCountyAuditor.org.
