“Give a Hand” to Families in Need

Mcdonald’s restaurants are asking customers to give a hand and support families in need.

In southeastern Ohio and across the country, Mcdonald’s is raising awareness of Ronald Mcdonald House Charities.  Mcdonald’s Opperations Supervisor Chad Lawson said customers can purchase a "giving hand" for $1, $3 or $5, and a donation will be made to the Ronald Mcdonald House in Columbus.

"So far, customers have been really receptive," said Lawson.  "They know the local ties, and a lot of people in the community have used the Ronald Mcdonald House in Columbus.  It kind of provides a home away from home for parents with sick kids, so they don’t have to leave and come back or find a hotel room."

Lawson said the restaurant on East Pike isn’t setting a fundraising goal, but employees are engaging in a friendly competition to see who can generate the most money.  He said 88 cents of every dollar raised will benefit the local community.

"It’s important that it’s kept locally, because the communities that we serve are the communities that we do business in," said Lawson.  "I know several people, including my own family, who have used the Ronald McDonald House."

The fundraiser ends on November 20th, but you can make a difference year-round by purchasing a Happy Meal or tossing spare change into donation boxes near the registers.
