Globetrotters Dazzle Crowd at ZHS

A world famous basketball team made a stop in Zanesville Wednesday night to dazzle and amaze a packed crowd.
The Harlem Globetrotters showed their flips and tricks for more than 2,000 people at Zanesville High School. Junior Globetrotters from Zanesville got the crowd warmed up for the main event. Spectator, Kurt Kershner, says he can’t wait to see the Globetrotters performance.
"This is something I have always wanted to do ever since I was little, I mean I am so excited to watch this," tells Kershner.
For many the performance was a great night out with the family. Gerry Myers saw the Globetrotters when he was six years old and now he is sharing the experience with his son, Aronde.
"This is probably one of the best family events that you can bring your kids to and have a whole lot of fun and watch some good basketball and entertainment," says Gerry Myers.
The Globetrotters warmed up the crowd with some ball-handling tricks and of course some laughs. The game between the Harlem Globetrotters and the Washington Generals started off with a big slam dunk which got the crowd cheering on their feet. WHIZ’s Jed DeMuesy played for the Washington Generals and had his own cheering section. But what do they think of his basketball skills?
"He’s ok, he played in high school," tells Jed’s fans, Miles and Katie.
The Harlem Globetrotters and the Washington Generals gave the audience a rousing and entertaining game of basketball and the Globetrotters won 87 to 79.
Zanesville High School Athletic Director, Scott Aronhalt, says the school will receive 10% of ticket sales from the event. That money will be used for the Zanesville Athletic Department.
