Golf for Good: Annual Golf Scramble Supports Catholic Social Services
ZANESVILLE, OH – Get ready to tee off for a great cause! On August 2nd at 12 p.m., golfers will tee off at Fuller’s Fairways Golf Course for the annual Lottery Golf Scramble, benefiting Catholic Social Services in Zanesville.
This event supports the Payee Program, helping seniors and disabled individuals manage their finances. Participants will enjoy a scramble format, with cash prizes for the top teams and a $500 grand prize lottery drawing.
“We are doing a Lottery Scramble, we pay first and second place for their traditional scramble, but then we put all the teams’ names in a hat and draw one team out for a lottery draw of $500. The last five years, three times out of the five we’ve had the last place or the next to last place team win the lottery draw and win more money than the first-place team did. ” Dave Desender, the Catholic Social Services Regional Director said.
Teams of four can participate in the scramble for $300 per team. Catholic Social Services has been aiding southeastern Ohio since 1947, helping over 1,000 people each year.
“It makes a big difference in many people’s lives. Many times, they’re in crisis because they’ve mismanaged their funds or have been taken advantage of by some of the predators that are out in the community. Our program provides them stability. We make sure their money’s being used for their best interest and make sure that they have some peace of mind knowing that their bills are being paid and they can focus on other areas of life.” Desender said.
Fuller’s Fairways Golf Course is located at 4370 Clay Pike Road in Zanesville. You can enter the scramble the day of the event at 11 a.m., or you can preregister by contacting David Desender at (740) 452-5057 extension 102.
