Golfers get ‘All Shook Up’ on the course

Zanesville’s Parkinson Group hosted their ‘All Shook Up’ golf outing June 13 at the Vista Golf Course.

Shotgun was at 8:00 a.m. and the 12 teams competed in a 4 Man Scramble. Secretary for the All Shook Up Parkinson’s Group Robert Swanson said the day is about showing that those living with Parkinson’s Disease can still live an active life.

“We’re people too,” said Swanson. “Just because you have Parkinson’s that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything. I’m playing with two guys that have Parkinson’s and we’re playing golf.. so you can do it. ”

The outing proceeds will benefit the Parkinson’s Group in the form of exercise equipment and Swanson said that he’s glad to be in a city where so many come together support the cause.

“the city of Zanesville great to support this event and I am just proud to be a part of the community,” said Swanson.

The Parkinson’s Group also holds an exercise class each Tuesday at the I.B.E.W and an hour of swimming at the Recreation Center on Thursdays. Swanson said that all are invited to join them and the first visit is free. All visits after that are just $5.00.
