Golfing For ZPD K-9 Unit

The City of Zanesville is hosting a fundraiser for our four legged members of the Zanesville Police Department.

The first ever golf outing will be taking place at Green Valley Golf Course on Dresden Road, Saturday, June 27. Shotgun start is at 9AM. The cost is $40 a person and $160 a team. You can also sponsor holes on the course. Safety Director of Zanesville, Fred Buck told us more.

“We’re hoping to have this outing complete in three hours where we actually come out. We’ll golf, start at 9AM. We will at 10 o’clock start feeding everybody on the course.”

The K-9 unit is completely donation driven and Buck hopes to raise $4,000. Currently there are 3 dogs on the unit. Chief of the Zanesville Police Department, Kenneth Miller explained more about the different things the money would fund.

“Any type of expense that we have it will go to vet bills, if we have to buy equipment or supplies for the dogs or the handlers. That’s where the money comes from.”

Miller said they recently bought and trained a new dog for the force which cost the department $10,000. Miller said it means a great deal to have a community who is willing to help fund the K-9 units work and expenses. If you are unable to make the golf outing, you can write a check directly to the Zanesville Police Department. If you have any questions or would like to register, you can call:
