Governor: Flags at Half Staff After Kirkersville Shootings

Kasich

COLUMBUS – Governor John R. Kasich ordered that all flags be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Licking County and at the Ohio Statehouse effective immediately through sunset on May 16, 2017, in honor of the lives lost in the senseless acts of violence perpetrated today in Kirkersville, Ohio.

Kasich’s order reads: “In honor of the lives lost in the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on May 12, 2017 in Kirkersville, Ohio, I hereby proclaim, by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Ohio by the Ohio Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flags of the United States of America and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Licking County and at the Ohio Statehouse effective immediately through sunset on May 16, 2017.”

Authorities on Friday also released the names of the two Pine Creek Care Center employees who were killed Friday morning.  They were identified as Cindy Krantz and Marlina Medrano.  The women were allegedly killed by Thomas Hartless.  Investigators say there was a relationship between Medrano and Hartless, but would not provide any other details.   Hartless is also accused of killing Kirkersville Police Chief Steven Disario before killing himself.
