Granville Dominates in Big Time Division II Softball Matchup

Here We Are

ZANESVILLE, OH – As the number two-ranked team in Division II, the Granville Blue Aces did have a point to prove after a tough loss against number one-ranked Watkins on Thursday. And you would never know that was the case as they defeated West Muskingum, 9-1.

The Tornadoes are a highly competitive team as well in Division II, coming into the game at 9-2 overall following a Thursday loss of their own to Philo.

This one was all Blue Aces though, as the scoring started off the bat of Alyssa Guglielmi, who powered one out to left field for a solo home run in the second inning. She finished the game going 4-4 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored, including the aforementioned homer.

Granville kept slowly adding to the lead with one more run in the fourth and two more in the fifth until it really exploded with a five-run sixth inning.

The real star of this game might have been Ally Ensberger who dominated on the mound all game long, silencing the Tornado bats.

She went the complete game, allowing just one earned run on five hits, walking two, and striking out fourteen batters en route to the Granville victory.

Now with a 16-2 record overall, the Blue Aces get a few days off before travelling to Licking Heights on Monday. West Muskingum has a quick turnaround however, hosting Newcomerstown on Saturday morning at 11 am.
