Green Wave advances to fourth straight state championship game

Newark Catholic baseball rallied to upend Fort Recovery in the D-IV state semifinal for the second straight year and punched a fourth consecutive berth to the championship game. The Green Wave trailed 2-0 early on before taking a 3-2 lead and eventually pulling away from the Indians, 7-3. The Green Wave  advances to play Triad in the state championship game Saturday night at 7.

In D-II state semifinal softball action, the Lakewood Lady Lancers are returning to the championship game after taking down Archbishop Hoban, 4-1. Lakewood looks to avenge a runner-up finish in 2015 as it battles LaGrange Keystone Saturday at 4 p.m. for the state title.
