Halliburton Moving Jobs To Zanesville

The Homer City, Pennsylvania Branch of Halliburton will be moving to Zanesville by the end of this year.

Halliburton announced in February that they would be cutting jobs but did not disclose where. The move is still in the very early phases. The Homer City Facility opened during the year 1970. Executive Director of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority, Matt Abbott, told us the reasons behind the move.

"We have always known since, you know, the beginning of Haliburton’s footprint here at Eastpoint Business Park. We’ve always known that they were going to be looking to expand what they do here in Zanesville in Muskingum County." Said Abbott, "A lot of the industry is market driven so a lot of the oil and gas play has moved to Southeast Ohio. So, you know, this facility is geared toward, you know, fitting into that market."

Halliburton states around 430 people were employed by the Pennsylvania site and more than eighty percent of the workers will have the opportunity to transfer to other Pennsylvania locations or Zanesville. Ninety of those individuals were laid off, however, some of those employees will have the opportunity to take on different roles within the company. Halliburton broke ground in Muskingum County in the year 2012. WHIZ will bring you more information as the story develops.
