Health and Fitness Day

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – May 17, 2017 local employees walked in downtown Zanesville for National Employee Health and Fitness Day.
N.E.H.F.D. is celebrated every third Wednesday in May to promote physical activity for employees at their work site. Quality Care Partners hosted their second annual Employee Health and Fitness Day one mile walk starting at the Muskingum County Court house.
“Well there were just a couple of us in the office and we just thought it would be great,” Population Health and Wellness Specialist Brooke Smith. “You know we encourage our employees to get out and get moving and just trying to get the whole downtown out and moving as well. So we thought we would include everybody.”
Smith said exercising while at the work place can decrease your blood pressure, decrease cholesterol, and reduce your stress. Emily Blair the Heart-Chase Director for American heart Association is trying to inspire people to become more active so we can have a much healthier community.
“So we want to celebrate in a few weeks with HeartChase which is a very inclusive, hands on day where we can learn small behavior changes that are going to have a long-lasting impact on our health,” said Blair.
HeartChase will teach people about the number one killer in the U.S. and how heart disease is preventable. HeartChase will take place at Genesis Hospital on June 17, 2017 starting at 10:00 A.M.
