Health Officials: Tick Season Underway
With spring time here, most of us have already seen or been bitten by those annoying and pesky mosquitoes. But now, Ohioans have another reason to be tick-ed off.
It’s tick season and state health officials are expecting the blood sucking insects to stick around through late July.
"With the rainy season, with the cool weather, the ohio department of health expects a large population of ticks this year," said Mike Kirsch, Environmental Health Director.
Kirsch says ticks usually are found in high grasses, woodlands, and weeds. He says to use a common sense approach when checking for them.
"If you’re out in the grass, out in the woods, check yourself, check your kids, your pets, wear light colored clothing so they are easily identified," said Kirsch.
If you find a tick on you or your pet, to grab it by using either a tissue or tweezers as close as possible to your skin and then pull it off.
