Heath Bulldogs on the Way to Regionals

Heath, OH- The Heath Bulldogs are heading to Wright State, Thursday, for a regional semi-final matchup against Cincinnati Country Day on the baseball diamond.

The team hasn’t lost a game in over a month and has overwhelmed the competition in DIII on the way to this pivotal ball game.

So, you have to ask yourself what is the key to winning? Could it be on in their hair?

Bulldogs Senior Hayden Woodward addressed the bleach blonde hair color saying it spawned from travel ball a couple summers ago.

“Last year, we knew we were going to be better than we had been in the past for school ball. I was like hey let’s bleach our hair. Everybody didn’t want to do it. Then we finally did and everyone was like this is kind of cool,” explained Woodward. “Then this year, I’m like okay we’re obviously good again. Let’s do it again. Everybody was like, alright let’s do it. So now it’s just tradition and it looks awesome.”

The laid back hairstyle isn’t the only thing keeping the Bulldogs playing. For Coach Tom Warren it’s experience.

“Obviously we had six or seven of them starting since they were freshmen. We knew we had a lot of Varsity Game experience coming back, not only coming back but having played together for four seasons. You can’t replace the senior leadership.”

Heath plays Thursday at 5pm. If they win they’ll play in the regional finals Friday.
