Heath Overwhelms Cincinnati Christian, Moves Onto State Semifinal
FAIRBORN, OH
Back in Fairborn for the second straight day for the Bulldogs, and a tremendous performance on the mound from Riley Baum, the senior went the distance, allowing just two hits while striking out four. The Bulldogs were putting together a nice rally though in the third. How about Tanner Patterson with the ground ball into right and the Bulldogs are cooking on the base paths.
The bags are now loaded for Kaden Green, who simply does the job for Heath. The groundout to third scores Connor Corbett, and Heath leads, 1-0. The next batter is the pitcher Baum, another grounder but the throw home? Not in time! Patterson scores to double the Bulldogs’ lead. It’s always nice when the pitcher can field his position, isn’t it?
Great play by Baum on the mound and everything was working for Heath. Speaking of Baum, another grounder in the fifth, they go for the double play, but he beats the throw at first with Patterson scoring again! Heath goes on to win it, 4-0 for the regional title and the Bulldogs advance to the state semifinal next Saturday in Akron against Waynedale.
