Heather Nowlin’s Friend Testifies
The prosecution continues their case against Terrell Nowlin charged in the 2010 death of Tyler Hardin. Tuesday, Heather Nowlin’s best friend Alysia Harris took the stand.
Alysia Harris lived in Newark at the time of Tyler Hardin’s murder. She told jurors that she had known Tyler since pre-school. She explained how she and Heather were best friends and spoke of how Terrell and Heather planned to hurt Tyler.
"She asked if I could get a gun and I said why and she said Terrell needed it, " said Harris.
Harris also testified that a month before Tyler’s death the Nowlin’s had asked her to help lure him out.
"Heather asked if we could get Tyler out of the house because Terrell wanted to beat him up," said Harris.
She said she even saw Heather carrying unusual items in the trunk of her car prior to July 10, 2010 when attempting to put a carseat into the trunk.
"We tried to put the carseat in the trunk, but it wouldn’t fit. She had a bunch of clothes and a shovel."
Prosecutor’s also questioned Harris about driving up a gravel road with Tyler and Heather and seeing Terrell standing there next to his car. Harris recounted that Terrell got something out of Heather’s trunk and the two began talking. At that point Tyler wanted out.
"I just told him to stay in the car. He wanted out and I told him to stay in the car," said Harris. "Terrell tackled him to the ground and they started fighting and Heather puts it reverse and takes off."
And then there was Heather’s confession.
" She just started crying. She tells me everything that happened. She tells me that Terrell killed Tyler and Terrell wanted her to shoot Tyler in the head but she couldn’t do it," said Harris.
Defense attorney’s argued Harris’ testimony as false said she lied to investigators multiple times, but Harris claims she lied because she felt threatened by Terrell she was scared because she was on probation.
Others testified seeing Terrell’s car at a Tipton Road property on July 10 and hearing the sound of gunshots and people talking during the afternoon. The trial continues Wednesday.
