CAMBRIDGE, Ohio — Cambridge’s Lilly Ritz has been voted the WHIZ-TV high school basketball player of the week.

Ritz did it all in the Bobcats 52-24 win over Meadowbrook last week; she scored 24 points, recorded 17 rebounds, and also tallied 7 steals in the victory. Ritz also became the schools all-time leading scorer, racking up 1,277 throughout her career so far.

“It means a lot and it means even more to have all my team here supporting me and everybody that was out in the stands watching and came out and supported us,” said Ritz about becoming the leading scorer in school history.

Ritz’s teammate, Taylar Slaughter, was named Player of the Week earlier in the season and Ritz echoed Slaughter’s sentiment that the closeness of their group and chemistry off the floor is a big part of their team success.

“We’ve all been very close and I think that’s impacting us on the court. We hang out outside of practice and we’re all real close,” Ritz added.

Cambridge is now 12-1 on the season, and 9-1 in ECOL play. Their only loss came on the road to New Philadelphia, who is 14-2 and 9-0 in league play, putting them in sole possession of first place. The Bobcats will get a rematch with the Quakers at home on February 7th.

The Bobcats are in a stretch in which they will play three games in four days this week. They will travel to John Marshall in Cleveland Wednesday night, followed by a home match-up with Union Local on Friday night, and capped off by a trip to Dover on Saturday afternoon.

Final Voting Results:

Lilly Ritz (Cambridge) 43%
Seth Russell (New Lexington) 19%
Kenzie Newsom (Zanesville) 17%
Justin Heacock (John Glenn) 21%
