High School Football Showcase
Muskingum County- High School Football is still months away, but that isn’t stopping the local area high school athletes from competing on the field and trying to make the most of their opportunities.
For the first time in its 86 year history, the MVL is holding its first college football showcase. Hundreds of local area high schoolers will be showing off their talents in front of college coaches in hopes of making their college dreams a reality.
Two MVL Coaches of the Year came up with the idea for the showcase, West Muskingum Coach Nate Brownrigg and Tri-Valley Coach Cam West.
Brownrigg said, “College camps are spread out and expensive we just we just felt that there was a need in our area to get for opportunities like this”
Coach West added, “I think we played pretty good football here and I don’t think at times we we get the exposure obviously that Central Ohio gets in. I understand that the bigger schools, but we have good football players here and I think they deserve. They deserve a shot and get coaches here on our campus and then let them see these kids in person is important.”
The showcase will feature over 100 players and 22 colleges.
“Whether one kid gets noticed at this thing and gets an opportunity to play the next level whatever level that may be or you know 20 kids 50 kids get noticed it makes it worth it,” said Coach Brownrigg. “It’s about the kids about the programs and highlighting. Your highlighting or getting college programs so understand there are good players here there’s good there’s good football in this area and you’re sparking the interest for them to come around”
Coach West said, “The season is over. We’re MVL. I want MVL teams to go as far as they can. I’m obviously during the season we play each each other other, but we’re kind of a big family here and then for anyone to get looked at it necessarily have to be tri valley kids or West M kids for anyone to get a look at an opportunity to play college football I think it’s important.”
The MVL college showcase will be held at Tri-Valley high school Tuesday, May 21st.
