Hobby Turns Passion in McConnelsville
Art in a variety of forms can be inspiring for some and a creative outlet for others.
Local artists and community members came out to the 47th Annual Art and Crafts Show in McConnelsville this weekend. Artist, Angela Jones is originally from Morgan County and now lives in Virginia. She explains her kids had recently moved out when she saw an advertisement for sculpture classes. The sculpting hobby turned into a passion where she now returns home to McConnelsville each year to take part in the show.
"If you’re looking for something to do," explained Jones, "find some outlet to make your life a little more well rounded."
Jones was awarded first place in the Applied Arts category. Art Guild President Karen Shaw-Honaker, said all levels of artistic development take part in the show and believes you can tell a lot about a community through their appreciation of the arts.
"Morgan County and McConnelsville is a wonderful, just picturesque of true Americana type of atmosphere," said Shaw-Honaker.
The show was judged on three categories- Applied Art, Fine Art and Photography. If interested in seeing more, an Art Show will take place in Zanesville next weekend for the Y-Bridge Arts Festival.
