Hometown Heroes: Celebration and Resource Fair
Zanesville, OH- There’s a chance for you to hear the first hand experiences of veterans in our community.
The Hometown Heroes: Celebration and Resource Fair will take place on Veterans Day. The president of the Veterans Appreciation Foundation, Wayne Clark is one of three veterans sharing their stories at the John McIntire Library.
“I honestly was really inspired by the work that Wayne Clark does in town,” explained MCLS Adult Services Librarian Skyler Tigner. “They do countless activities in the community. They are part of the Veterans Day Parade, the Veterans Day Breakfast. He was someone I knew I wanted to partner with to have that local aspect for veterans.
Following the talk with veterans, a resource fair will take place showcasing programs in our area that support veterans.
“Our foundation has always felt that we never should we forget what our veterans have done for us for hundreds of years and sometimes they’re forgotten,” said Clark. “A lot of our key things is to do something with nursing homes. They are the most forgotten people there are and so any time we can get out and represent veterans, talk to veterans, do things for veterans that makes us feel really good.”
The Veterans Day Celebration and Resource Fair will take place between 12pm-3pm on Monday at the library. It’s one of several activities honoring veterans including a breakfast and parade on Saturday, school events and open houses Monday for both the VFW and American Legion.
