Hometown Heroes Resource Fair

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – America has become the greatest nation in the world, in part through the service and sacrifices rendered by the members of its armed forces.

The Hometown Heroes Veterans Day Celebration and Resource Fair was held at the John McIntire Library to honor their service and share avenues of support for veterans who might be struggling.

“We mean for it to be; one, honoring veterans and remembering some things and educating people about what some of the veterans have gone through and what life’s like being in the military,” Veterans Appreciation Foundation President Wayne Clark said.

Clark said veterans deserve to be respected because they are the few who are willing to take on the responsibility of defending our country with their lives. He also emphasized the importance of camaraderie amongst the veterans and how that often reveals the many benefits that are available through the various veteran support organizations.

“Muskingum County is a very, very, very good county about patriotism and our Veterans Appreciation Foundation really pushes that and we thank everybody that supports us,” Clark said. “Some of the vendors are the American Legion and the VFW, which are membership for veterans, which I’m active in both of them and they’re literally a home for veterans and especially older veterans.”

Zanesville was named after Ebenezer Zane, who developed the Zane’s Trace nearly 250-years-ago and served as a Colonel during the Revolutionary War.
