How to get Involved this Hunger Action Month

Food Drive

ZANESVILLE, OH – September is Hunger Action Month and there are many ways for you to get involved.

Jamie Trout, a Member of the Muskingum County Hunger Network, says some simple ways are wearing orange on Fridays throughout the month, planning a food drive, or volunteering at one of the many hot meal programs Muskingum County has for their residents.

“You can educate yourself and others in our community about people who do fight food insecurities.” Trout said. “We’re just a very blessed community, we have so many different places that offer food so no one has to go hungry but we couldn’t do it without our community’s support.”

Trout says they’re working on a food drive, in partnership with Riesbeck’s, once again so stay tuned to the Hunger Network’s facebook page for more information on that.

She also shared details on how people can get involved with any of the hot meal programs here in our area.

“You can just reach out to Christ Table or any other, like Salvation Army, Trulight, they all have hot meal programs and just tell them that you’re interested in volunteering.” Trout said. “You can also message us on the Muskingum County Hunger Network’s Facebook page and we can get you in contact with some of the other food pantries and hot meal programs that you might not know of.”
