Howards Found Guilty Of Child Endangering

The trial of a Zanesville Couple charged in connection with a house party in July of 2011 where a teenager died has resulted in a conviction. 45-year-old Warren Howard and his 43-year-old wife, Tamara were found guilty on seven counts of child endangering.  The Judge sentenced the couple to 180 days in jail which was suspended and a $1000 dollar fine each.  They were also given two years probation.  The trial was not about the death of 14-year-old Grant Hickman, who was found dead in the Howard’s home.  An autopsy report in November revealed that Hickman did not die of alcohol poisoning. During the two day trial in Zanesville Municipal Court Zanesville City Law Director Scott Hillis said the Howard’s were reckless on the night of the party at their home.  Hillis says their inaction created risks for the teenagers since they were drinking alcohol.  Whiz News attempted to get reaction to today’s conviction from Warren and Tamara Howard and they declined to comment.  Whiz News also asked for reaction from the Hickman family and they also declined.
