HS football player’s tragedy brings community together
Tragedy united students, parents and football players Tuesday evening at Maysville High School.
Two weeks ago, an ATV accident paralyzed Maysville senior and football player Bryan Havens. Tuesday night, the community came together for a benefit, One Team One Family, to show their support.
“He has a lot of friends here. A lot of teammates and was a big part of our football program, and we’re just trying to help the family in any way we can. Bryan…we miss him a lot,” said Coach Whit Parks.
Bryan’s Dad, Terry, said he’s showing signs of improvement, and although he’s not sure if #6 will ever be able to play again, it’s likely that he will walk one day, “He’s been getting better and better everyday, but he’s pretty strong, so we’re doing alright,” said Terry Havens.
Bryan is recovering at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. A donation fund has been set up for the Haven’s. If you’re interested in donating, stop by Century National Bank in South Zanesville.
