Hundreds Come out for 2011 Y-City Gun Fest
Despite the chilly weather Saturday, it didn’t stop hundreds from coming out for the 2011 Y-City Gun Fest.
In its second year, put on by the Zanesville Rotary Club, the event gave away over 250,000 dollars in prizes including cash, a new car, Harley Davidson Motorcycles and of course guns. New for this year was a big attraction, a cash grab game.
"You get in, grab as much as you can, you get to keep the cash that you grab, after that, the person that grabs the most money is going to win a gas grill. We also added a new game called top shot which is a shooting simulator that you can take a chance for 5 bucks, play the game or enter a tournament later today," said Y-City Gun Fest Chairman Jennifer Agin.
Many attendees of course enjoyed a few ice cold brews as they mingled through the crowds looking at the various guns and prizes. So you might wonder, booze and guns? Is it a concern?
"No concerns. No, we’re all sportsmen oriented. We have law enforcement here if that were to happen. One of my rotarians, he explained it last year, it’s almost like a church social, people sit around, have a good time, socialize, and drink beer," said Agin.
Saturday’s event hoped to raise around 100,000 dollars for the Rotary Club.
