Ice Cream Social Grows Over the Years
The Faith United Methodist Church hosted its annual community festival August 29.
The festival was formerly held at the beginning of the summer season but church member Donald Wolfe said having it in August gives the community something fun to do before the warm weather disappears. Over 100 people came out to enjoy dinner, games, a car show and of course the traditional ice cream that started it all.
“It started out years ago, being an ice cream social, probably 30 or 40 years ago, and it slowly progressed into what we now call the community festival,” said Wolfe.
Wolfe said it not only benefits the community but it brings the church members together as they work to create another festival each year. All activities and food are free. The church did accept donations and many of the members donated their money to make the event happen.
