Important Deadlines to Keep in Mind as the November 5th Election Approaches
ZANESVILLE, OH – The November 5th election is a short 7 weeks away and some important deadlines are coming up if you plan to cast your vote.
Cheryl West, an Elections Specialist at the Muskingum County Board of Elections Office, says there are three ways you can vote in the upcoming General Election.
The first is voting by mail; you’ll need to make sure your absentee ballot is completed and turned back into the Board of Elections Office.
West said the ballots will start going out in the mail on Oct. 8th.
“The other way is, also starting on October 8th, we will have in-person early voting hours here at the office, the times vary so I suggest going on to the Board of Elections website in order to find out what those times are,” West said. “The other and last way is the traditional voting on Election Day, where you go to your assigned voting location and cast your ballot.”
West also says if you still need to register or update some information then you have until 9PM on Oct. 7th to get that completed.
She also recommends doing some research on the issues on the ballot before you head to the polls.
“If you’re interested in finding out what is on your ballot in advance, especially reading all the content, and especially State Issue 1, there again you can go to the website and read what you’re going to be voting on,” West said. “It helps a lot, I think, to have the research done in advance, in case the lines are long, or you’re on your lunch hour and you have to take the time to read. If you kind of know in advance how you’re going to vote for something, I think it’s a little bit easier.”
The Board of Elections Office is still in need of poll workers for the General Election.
