Input Needed from Moxahala/Woodlawn Residents

The Zanesville Community Development Department wants your help to decide where grant funds are distributed.

The department is applying for a competitive block grant to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods.  Development Director Stacy Clapper said the grant will directly benefit those who live in the Moxahala/Woodlawn area.

"We will apply for funding for flood and drainage, sewer facility improvements, paving on the streets and park improvements at Buckingham Terrace Park," said Clapper.  "We’ll also look to assist any non-profit organization in the area, so there’s a real variety of activities."

Clapper said that not many people have attended the meetings so far, and she encourages residents of that neighborhood to complete a survey.

"We have applied three times prior and have been successful with all of those applications," said Clapper.  "There is a lot more competition and people going after these funds, but in our planning process with the citizens, we’re able to get into the neighborhood, talk with the residents and find out what the true needs are."

The next meeting will take place on May 16th at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church on Putnam Avenue.
