Job Fair Connects Graduating Seniors with Local Employers

ZANESVILLE, Ohio–As the school year winds down, some high school seniors are looking beyond graduation and straight into the workforce.

A career fair at the Muskingum County fairgrounds, tailored specifically for graduating seniors, brought together students and more than 30 businesses across Muskingum and surrounding counties.

“We’re having a job fair for high school seniors in Muskingum and surrounding counties. This gives the students opportunities to meet with businesses that are here, we have 35 businesses here today,” Workforce administrator at Ohio Means Jobs Julie Metzger said.

Job fairs are a great opportunity for students to move to the next level in their job search. The event allowed for eight area high schools to network and build connections that could benefit them in the near future.

“A lot of students, they’re ready to go directly into the workforce. So, this is a good chance for them to meet, give them the skills and opportunities they need to become employed,” Metzger said.

Organizers say the job fair is all about preparing students for life after high school with resources, real-world conversations, and pathways to employment right in their own communities.
