Joey Kish Scholarship Foundation Prepares for Comedy Night Fundraiser

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local Foundation is gearing up for a night of laughs, friendship, and raising funds in memory of someone gone too soon.
The Joey Kish Scholarship Foundation will be hosting a Comedy Night at Bryan Place on Friday, May 1st at 6PM.
Lyndsay Myers, Joey’s Sister and CEO of the Scholarship Foundation, says this night is meant to honor her brother who passed away in a work accident while raising funds to purchase safety equipment for the next generation of utility line workers.
“That’s the whole mission behind our story, if we can save one life that means we have made a difference and that’s what we want to do.” Myers said. “Joey was killed in a work related accident and if proper PPE would’ve been worn, we feel that could’ve been a life that was saved and prevented.”
Myers says their scholarship differs from the traditional ones because instead of going towards tuition, these funds go towards equipment like the BuckSqueeze fall protection system.
She says they award the equipment to three graduating students from the Mid-East Powerline Program.
“We specifically focus on graduating students because the equipment that they need is not provided by their employers nor does the school provide them with that equipment.” Myers said. “So each BuckSqueeze that we’re giving out is $1,000, per student.”
