John McIntire Library reopens Art Gallery Wing to the public

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The John McIntire Library is happy to announce the reopening of its art gallery space.

After a year, the library is hanging paintings and pictures back up in the Carnegie Wing. This allows the public to come check out local artists’ paintings and photos. 

“This month we’re lucky to have Kiyoe Howald and Ron Funk. They are both local artists. Kiyoe has shown here several times before but this is Ron’s first time showing in the Carnegie Wing gallery. We’re just really excited to have people back up in the Carnegie enjoying art,” MCLS marketing and community relations director Sean Fennell said.

The Carnegie Wing is located on the second floor of the library. The area is also designated as a quiet reading space. Readers are able to enjoy their reading upstairs peacefully, surrounded by beautiful art. 

“I think this community in particular has a strong tradition of visual arts. This is a way for the library to reflect and be a part of the community that we serve,” Fennell said. “It gives our local artists a place to show and we also get to bring in different things that our community may not have access to otherwise. We’re all about connecting people to information and ideas to each other.” 

More art shows will be coming up at the library. Stay tuned for a special staff art show that will take place in November.
