John William “Jack” Shields (September 19, 1926 – May 12, 2010)

John William “Jack” Shields, 83 of Roseville passed away on Wednesday May 12, 2010 at the Riverside Hospital in Columbus. Jack was born in Roseville on September 19, 1926 to the late John W. and Leona (France) Shields. Jack was employed at the Hull Pottery, and was a foreman at the Ungemach and Friendship Potteries for many years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan.

He is survived by his wife Maxine Hartley Shields of Roseville, a son Gary (Mary Starr) Shields of Roseville, a daughter-in-law Marcia Ater Shields of Richmond, VA. 5 Grandchildren; Heather Shields, Shawna Shields, Jon (Amanda Atack) Shields, Carrie (James) Jones, Cheri (Nate) Puckett. 10 Greatgrandchildren: Will, Grace, Ella and Jack Shields, James, Jourdan, Tori and Abbie Jones, Cadence, and Kendyl Puckett. Several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Shields, brother, Edwin Shields, Sisters Margaret Moore and Mary Ellen Bonifant

There will be a graveside service at 11:00 am Saturday May 15, 2010 at the Rosehill Cemetery in Roseville.
