Kidzville needs Volunteers

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Kidzville Rebuild committee members met with the Muskingum County Commissioners to update them on their needs.
The food provided on each day of construction has been taken over by various providers. Now they just need more tools and more volunteers. Community Organizer Doug Hobson said all businesses, churches, and organizations whether small or big that want to support their community, they should start with Kidzville.

“This is the way to do it,” Hobson said. “We’re looking at, we need [140-160] people on that job sight from 8:00 in the morning until dark. So if there is any opportunity that you can put your employees out there. My goodness the community, the kids would really appreciate that.”
Starting May 5, 2017 the tool list can be found on the Kidzville Rebuild page. A tool drop off sight will be set up at the Zanesville Fire Department located on fourth street in downtown, Zanesville.
“Those tools will be returned to you in the same shape if not better, we’ll make sure of that,” said Hobson.
May 31, 2017 through June 4, 2017 the Kidzville rebuild is set to take place, but that cannot happen if the committee doesn’t have enough volunteers signed up or enough tools provided before May 17, 2017.
“Here’s the other problem, two weeks prior to [the Kidzville rebuild] happening we have to send [a message] to the company to say ‘hey we have all of the food, all the tools, and all the people,” Hobson said. “Let’s build a swing set. So that’s where we’re kind of at we just need people and tools.”
According to Hobson the design company will not fly to Zanesville if there are not enough volunteers and supplies. The construction would then need to be postponed.
The Muskingum County Commissioners are providing the meals on Sunday June 4, 2017 and they’re currently setting up a team of Muskingum County employees to volunteer to work that day. The commissioners are officially challenging the City of Zanesville to see who can provide the most volunteers for the Kidzville rebuild.
