Kiwanis Club Hops into Action with Project Easter Bunny
ZANESVILLE, OH – Spring has officially sprung, and the Easter Bunny isn’t the only one hiding eggs this year, the Kiwanis Club of Zanesville is hopping into action with a brand-new initiative to bring some Easter magic right to local children’s doorsteps.
For 104 years, Kiwanis has been dedicated to serving the community, with a strong focus on supporting local youth. The club sponsors five Key Clubs—Zanesville, Maysville, West Muskingum, Philo and Rosecrans—more than any other Kiwanis chapter in the state, which is an impressive feat for a town this size. Now, Key Club members are working on a special Easter project.
“It’s our first time doing this,” said Kiwanis Club of Zanesville President Lisa Jackson. “We’re going to help the Easter Bunny out by delivering eggs to some very lucky children. We have 60 that we’re going to be able to do deliveries for this year. Our Key Clubs are going to go out the night before and we’re going to hide the eggs in their yards.”
Families can register for just $25 per child. There is also a discounted rate of $20 per child if a household has multiple children. All proceeds go right back into Kiwanis community efforts, funding projects like ramp-building, Christmas parties, scholarships, and more. Since this is the first year for Project Easter Bunny, the club hopes to make it an annual tradition.
“This is something we would love to be able to continue to do. I think it is a pretty unique idea. We would love to be able to build on this and expand on it and be able to do more than the planned amount this year,” Jackson added.
