Kiwanis Key Club to Celebrate 100 Years in the Zanesville Community

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Kiwanis Key Club of Zanesville is celebrating a major milestone.
The Key Club is a service organization for high school students where they get hands-on experiences in planning events that are important to them as well as getting to hold positions of power.
Lisa Jackson, the Current President of the Kiwanis Club, says this year Key Club is celebrating 100 years in the community and they’re having a little cook-out at the Trinity Lutheran Church Park to celebrate.
“This Sunday, the 21st at 4 o’clock. We would love for all of our Key Club kids to come, advisors,” Jackson explained. “Any former Key Club Members that wanted to show up too would be great and we’re just going to hang out and play some cornhole and have some hotdogs.”
Jackson says this event is meant to highlight and reward the hard work students have been putting into their projects and events.
She says they do this because these kids are shaping up to be the next generation of Kiwanians.
“They’re the future of this organization so we’re trying to make sure we have a strong bond with all those members.” Jackson said. “I know it’s a long term goal, but these kids are really passionate about what they’re doing and if you don’t teach the next generation to take care of the community that they live in then it just kind of goes away and we don’t want that.”
