Kroger and Hunger Network Team Up for Food Drive

ZANESVILLE, OH – September is Hunger Action Month, and Kroger is stepping up to help those in need.

Kroger has partnered with the Muskingum County Hunger Network to host a food drive on Saturday, September 14th, from 8 AM to 1 PM at the Zanesville Kroger. They are accepting all non-perishable food items, which will go directly to local community pantries.

“You can just go right into Kroger and purchase it and bring it out to us and we’ll load it up in the truck and make sure it gets out to the food pantries and hot meal programs in our area,” Eastside Community Ministry Executive Director Jamie Trout said.

These donations will help support families and individuals facing food insecurity. The Hunger Network has seen a rise in the number of people they serve, making this food drive more important than ever.

“In the past three months, we’ve served over 200,000 meals collectively. The need is really high, we’re always experiencing an increase in the amount of people that are coming in. The food costs have gone up, so our budgets are really hurting right now. Anybody can help, that’s the beauty of this. You can pick up an extra can of vegetables at the store and you’re going to help feed a family. So, it’s a really easy way to get involved,” Trout said.

In addition to the food drive, the Hunger Network is selling Hunger Action Month shirts for $15 each. Five dollars from every shirt will go directly back to the Hunger Network. If you’re interested, contact Jamie Trout at (740) 452-7519 or Keely Warden at (740) 452-9766.
