‘Lace Up for Kids’
The upcoming school year is right around the corner, and the cost of new shoes for kids can be overwhelming.
Eastside Community Ministries is partnering with Wendy’s, and WHIZ, for “Lace up for Kids,” a shoe drive, benefiting the children of Muskingum County. Chairman, Sally Goins, said they put together this fundraiser to ensure every child starts school with a new pair of shoes.
“We at Eastside have been happy to continue working with the program and signing up folks and that’s what we’re doing today,” Goins said. “We’ll be here all this week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and then the following two Mondays.”
The ministry, along with all area Wendy’s locations, is accepting donations through August. All shoes donated must be brand new.
“We’ll also be happy to accept money, if people want to donate money to buy shoes,” she said.
Those registered must pick up their shoes on Aug. 13, at the Zanesville Civic League. Also, the ministry is still accepting applications for “Tools for Schools” through July.
