Eastside Community Ministries is partnering with Wendy’s and WHIZ to put on the annual Lace up for Kids.

Lace up for Kids is an event to distribute brand new donated tennis shoes for kids ages pre- K through 12th grade.

“This is the Lace Up for Kids kick off day. We’re excited to be a part of this again with Wendy’s and WHIZ. Folks that are in need of new shoes this year can go online on Eastside’s website. Start applying today through July 22. And not only will they get signed up for shoes this year, but they’re also going to get signed up to receive a brand new outfit,” said Executive Director of East Side Community Ministries Jamie Trout.

Distribution of the shoes will take place at Secrest Auditorium on August 10 and 11 by appointment only. After receiving their shoes and a brand new outfit, the kids will be able to go upstairs to the health fair that will include free haircuts.

“There’s no day like distribution day. So, anyone that has been involved with Lace up for Kids, to see the smiles on the kids faces, see them running around the room with light up shoes, there’s no better feeling than that to be able to provide that for the kids in our community,” added Trout.

Trout emphasized it was imperative that the parents or guardians bring their children with them to pick up their pair of shoes to make sure that they are fitted appropriately.
