Lady Generals and Scotties share MVL title
PHILO, Ohio – With Sheridan winning at Philo and Tri-Valley defeating West Muskingum at home, the two schools will share the 2016-’17 Muskingum Valley League title.
The Generals defeated the Electrics at the Power Plant 57-44. Rachael Cook was the leading scorer with 19 points. It’s the first MVL title for the Lady Generals since the 2003-’04 season and their fourth in school history.
The Scotties hosted West M and got a 57-48 win. It’s the first time the Dawgs have had at least a share of the MVL crown since 2011-’12.
Both schools had identical league records of 13-3 and they split their season series with one another. Tri-Valley beat Sheridan in the first game 56-49 and Sheridan got the better of TV in the second matchup 38-35.
Both team’s regular seasons are now over. Tri-Valley is the second seed in the East District and on Feb. 25 they’ll host the winner of the River View-Indian Valley game. Sheridan is the number one seed in the Southeast District and they’ll play the winner of the Gallia Academy-Athens game at Logan High School on Feb. 15.
