Last Minute Valentine’s Day Ideas
Valentines Day is only a few days away and if you are still struggling to come up with that perfect present, we have some sweet suggestions just for you.
Valentines Day is always an anticipated holiday for most people. Married, single, or taken by that special someone. But just as many find it incredibly stressful to come up with that perfect surprise.
Apprehension is often a common feeling when coming up with new and creative ideas. Will he or she like it? Is it too cheesy? Too much? Are only some of the questions that run through ones head. We stopped to talk to last minute shoppers who shared their personal ideas for what the ideal holiday experience might be.
“A dinner, and a movie with your loved one and family.”
“A romantic dinner and just spending time together.”
“Definitely just spending that with the person you like. Doing the right thing. Everything you guys both enjoy to do.”
We spoke to local store employees who gave us their suggestions as to what people have been buying. Employee of Candy Craze, Alexandria Ortiz told us sugar is a perfect option for your sweetheart.
“A lot of people are liking the Sixlets, because there’s a couple different colors. You can mix and match them. Plus our display has them so that gives them that idea. A lot of people were also buying the balloon gifts that we have.”
Elder Beerman employee, Katie Schneider gave us her suggestions in the perfume department.
“The men go after things that smell sweet. I recommend ‘Happy’ from Clinique. ‘Happy’ and ‘Happy Heart.'”
Finally in the jewelry department, Alexandria Parry of Zales told us what was selling on the sparkly side of things.
“People tend to buy necklaces for the most part. It’s an easy gift. You can never really go wrong with a necklace.”
If you’re still out of ideas, Pinterest is always a good resource. It’s full of DIY and other Valentine’s Day presents. Just search under ‘Valentine’s Day Gifts. For all you guys out there, maybe the glitz and the glam route isn’t for you. But you know what? That’s ok! Because simplicity truly is bliss and a bouquet of your honeys favorite flowers is sure to sweep her off her feet.
Florafino’s on Maple has you covered in that area. Greg Orafino, co-owner of the flower shop says you can never go wrong with a beautiful bundle.
“They express feelings. That’s what its all about with flowers. You know, they say it better than anything else” said Orofino.
As far as a night out on the town goes, why not try a local ice cream shop? Here in Zanesville, Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl allows you to step back into the late 1940’s. You’ll be able to enjoy a burger, fries and a scoop of wonderfully made, local ice cream.
Regardless of what you decide, remember not to stress too hard. Most people we spoke to felt it wasn’t about what money buys on Valentines Day, but rather, the gift of time and thought.
“The perfect gift depends upon who it’s coming from, because the perfect gift is the gift that comes from the heart.”
